2018

"Urban Forest" (mixing technique on canvas, unique specimen, signed, shadow gap 65 x 85 cm)

2018 was the year when I discovered the passion for myself over five decades - i.e. painting and drawing, which was my rather intensive hobby at the age of 10 to 14 years. At that time as now, instead of the development of an own style, I followed the interest to experiment by trying out a wide variety of techniques and ways of expression. This in turn naturally hinders the constant reproduction of successful results.

"Man With Straw Hat" (mixing technique on canvas, unique specimen, signed, framed 63 x 43 cm)

The fact that I, in contrast to the 1960s, since 2018 mostly use acrylic colors, there are above all practical reasons:

  1. The return to painting was also triggered by the fact that I had some acrylic color residues from the hardware store that either had to be disposed of or somehow had to be used.
  2. Since there was a large white wall in our living room, which should be decorated with a large picture or anything like that, I had the idea of creating something like this with this stuff, especially because the desire to paint was still present.
  3. Acrylic colors have the advantage of drying quickly so that the output of results accelerate and so it is possible to determine quickly whether it is worth to be furthermore engaged with them. During my puberty, this was less necessary because I was already busy with music besides painting and drawing.

"Brothers" (mixing technique on canvas, unique specimen, signed, unframed 60 x 60 cm)

The above described urge to experiment, which still drives me, can be an explanation for the stylistic and technical confusion, which will be seen in the gallery since 2018. There is no stylistic drawer for my works, so that their presentation on an art market would be significantly more difficult. Because if you had to make a selection for a presentation, it would be difficult to find more than just a handful of pictures that have certain similarities in their style. Then only would remain the possibility of presenting the stylistic mess as a kind of unique selling point - not promising, unless "counterfeiters" have become famous for their trademark. ?
